    Fel D 1 is a protein found in dander, saliva and skin oils of a cat which is the cause of cat allergies. Cats primarily lick themselves with their saliva glands which spreads the protein all over their body. When a person with cat allergy skin is in contact with the pet, the saliva glands spread to the areas and are infected causing the allergy.
